We take data privacy very seriously. The online service component is the key to customer adoption of network cameras, because it is the only way for a non-technical user to have a camera up and running in less than 30 seconds.

Right now, no, but it's in the works. We want to make sure that quality of service is just as good for non-U.S. customers before we ship anything internationally.

No, it's not open source. We use a custom H.264 encoder.

Hey guys, in order to make this post more hacker-ish, I'm going to answer any technical questions I can here. I used to be the Principal Engineer at Xobni, so while I'm not a YC alum I've been around these parts for a little while :)

Huh? There is no cost for an elastic IP address when it is in use.

That .NET 3.0 has been around since 2006 is a red herring. What really matters is the percentage of Windows machines that have it installed. I know a few companies that write desktop .NET software, and they can't use WPF unless they add ~50

You should qt-faststart that .mov so it starts playing immediately! Available in ffmpeg: http://svn.mplayerhq.hu/ffmpeg/trunk/tools/qt-faststart.c?vi... There are native versions for OS X and Adobe AIR out there.

I watched this video a while ago, so I don't remember it exactly, but there is clearly something dubious behind the money-creating power governments give to banks. As a society, we do want to grant promissory notes to encourage growth. Howe

Actually, I'm not a founder, and Gabor's a friend of mine. He sits right across from me at work (he hasn't left yet). He thought it was funny, since we often talk about how much people exaggerate the various barriers to building a successfu

I feel like it's a good idea to have a separate office from where you live, but why don't more (2-3 person) startups use the library for an office? It's quiet, you can rent conference rooms and equipment by the hour, and there's free wifi.

The blog you link to, http://blogs.king5.com/archives/2008/01/computer_glitch.html , says that the error was due to a corrupted file (assuming this means for the firework control software).

Maybe they need to cache their handlers: http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/python/requestsandappc... I think this might be the reason they are using so much CPU time as well.

I've often thought about putting together a good mix of infrastructure software into one distro/appliance. You could provide: - Router - VPN - VoIP - Email - Version control - Issue tracker - Wiki - File server/SMB/FTP - Etc. You could save

If someone would just do the signing-dongle thing in a user friendly way, maybe plugging/unplugging that is closer to authenticating the user ('something they have': the dongle, 'something they know': a passphrase to activate the dongle on

Though I do use VS a lot, I actually do use vim -- and awk, grep, sed, etc -- when VS/Resharper can't do the tricks I want. PuttyCyg/Cygwin provides a nice shell + unix tools on Windows.

It's terribly more efficient to send out generic holiday wishes to everyone and stop associating with anyone who gets too offended that you didn't conform to their particular brand of holiday. I really don't want to keep a 6 billion row spr
