Texas passed the first version of section 9.42 in 1974, if it's such an effective deterrent, why is the crime still happening? You just hate that poor desperate people have the unmitigated gall to try and survive.

I found somewhere that Netflix has ~74 million US/canada subscribers. If we guesstimate half of those might be on at peak time, that's 37 million users. At 400k connections/server that's only 85 servers to serve the con

Code that's not open source in google is controlled in a monorepo built on perforce, it's absolutely version controlled.

You're not wrong, mistakes were obviously made with C++ (and Rust for that matter).

I said it _doesn't_ give you enough power to justify the baggage, apologies if I wasn't clear. Iteration/modeling is one of my gripes in fact. The only way to copy a map is a for loop, really?

I want to like Go but it's just too much of a mess of a language, and the power it gives you isn't enough to justify it. C++ is at least fast. You can see this in the proposal for generics[0], where they have to tap dance around

If you think about how DVCS works, it's all blobby-things connected together with tree-ish things. Keeping all your blobby-things in one place lets you connect them more flexibly with tree-ish things and enforce stricter consistency (i

So you can pad your input array with zeros, but the algorithm doesn't know that it's padded, and will just compute with those zeros like any other value. If you could tell it that they were zeros it could take advantage of x*0=0

I've done a fair bit of 2d graphics work (written a rasterizer, etc). Honestly it's because it's 1) tricky to shoehorn 2D graphics onto the APIs that GPUs provide and 2) really not needed. I can easily render eg: a w
