My company's big project right now is built in CodeIgniter. We picked a framework for a number of reasons, but mostly as a way of standardizing the code. Rather than everyone having some arbitrary way of doing something, we found it easier

First, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prague_pneumatic_post , the Prague system ended in 2002 when it flooded. Second, the New York City post offices used to send packages to each other via pneumatic tubes. The system stopped in

Um, you sure about that? I just looked at it and it seems just fine. Firefox is rendering it as UTF8. I'm running FF 3.5 on Windows. (I'm not Japanese, but I can read the language.)

They're probably not. Twitter is a DDoS according to its status page; whereas http://status.livejournal.org/ says that their problems were "due to some database problems." No idea about Facebook.

My current team is facing the exact same problem. We're doing Scrum, but our team isn't nearly as interchangeable as the Scrum dogma would like. Example: some of us are better at UI, some of us are better at IA, and so on. So while we're al

Just to rub it in Nintendo's face a bit more, during the demonstration at E3, the guy explaining the system said "This isn't a game where you end up on the sofa just kind of using some preset waggle commands." Ow.

I've worked in CodeIgniter, but these days I find myself using the Zend Framework ( http://framework.zend.com/ ). They're actively developing it, and it has so much built-in functionality that I've been able to get stuff done much faster th
