GIMP is missing such basic, basic features and things, that I genuinely wonder what's going on with the development or how anyone uses it for anything other than basic editing. It's nice that it's free and open though I guess

No. Not Mastodon either. It's like how some say "linux is an alternative to windows", as much as some people wish it was, it's simply not.

Anyone have recommendations for setting up a mini home server to download and store torrented movies? I want something that "kinda just works", like what hardware and software? Only for movies I have consent and rights to torrent,

As much as I love the little guy beating the big evil company, I hope the lawsuit doesn't cause anything to happen to copilot. Maybe some changes, like better protection against emitting 1:1 licensed code or opting out your code from t

I use Wikipedia a lot and will never, ever donate a single dollar unless there's radical changes (that we know we'll never happen). If there was a better alternative to Wikipedia without all it's beaurocratic and managerial B

I like it - a little feedback, I was very hesitant to put in my email to "subscribe" to a generic looking mailing list. The only reason I did is because I read your comment here. Might be worth looking into improving. Maybe give s

In other places, like Africa or Asia, or just anywhere without a white majority, does the inverse exist? E.g. giving white people special treatment in hiring because they're a minority there? If the idea is logically consistent, based

Kim is quite famous in the art world. I remember a livestream where people sent it challenging ideas of things to draw, and he just casually draws them, entirely from memory, no references or googling of any images. Died way too young.

How dystopian does it sound that a "eSafety Commissioner" decides what is "harmful" for you to look at. A food safety commissioner banning harmful food is good, but this is an unelected person deciding what we can and ca

I don't think skin colour is comparable to disabilities. I don't agree with grouping and separating people based on race so you can treat them differently. I agree some people need extra resources given to them, race should have n

Only the base model, and it's gone from bad to less bad? I can forgive that designing a phone to be easily repairable can be very hard, just as long as you don't purposely make it harder to repair, or unnecessarily expensive.

I find this anti racism, itself racist, it's like: oh you have a certain skin colour? Aww you must need our help and special treatment. What if you had to lay off either a Black person from a rich, well educated family, vs a white pers

A.I projects (and maybe all python projects in general) seem to always be ridiculously tedious, error-prone to get running, such that its a rare, celebratory thing when someone releases something that's easy to use like this?
