Delivering the over-complicated feature and improving the performance of the over-complicated feature both seem to get more praise than shipping the simple version to begin with.

I occasionally clone repos into /tmp for some small tweaks without switching branches or whatever, and that’s usually when I commit with the wrong email. Neither includeIf nor useConfigOnly are ideal in this scenario because a) it’s c

For me it's the easiest and fastest cross-platform way to consistently install a Python version. pip and venv work fine, but you have to get them first; and that can be a struggle for unseasoned python devs, especially if you need a ve

A much simpler one, but at times also very useful is “git attic” https://leahneukirchen.org/dotfiles/bin/git-attic It lists files that were deleted and which commit deleted them.

I think that's the right call. IMHO now is the time to experiment with it, not to replace pandas where it's already working. The API is still seeing some (expected) breaking changes, and could become a maintenance burden across m

Seems like you’re describing snapshot testing, whereas the article talks about bisecting. Bisecting is useful when you find a bug which your test suite did not, and which may have been introduced a long while ago. So you search for the fir

Anecdotal, but I feel like I’ve started getting considerably more spam once I started clicking “unsubscribe” (in lists that I have never signed up for in the first place). Now I don’t bother anymore and just report as spam without “unsubscr

That's true for the store (Pop Shop), but not for the CLIs (apt and flatpak). If an app has only a .deb or flatpak version, it's not clear which will be installed. If there are multiple versions, you get a dropdown menu to select

Say one of your dependencies has no pre-built wheels available, so you need gcc to build it from source in your docker image. You can apt install gcc in a build stage, install your dependency and then you don't need to bother clearing

My bad! That part should have been clearer. I mean you don't need pinned dependencies. Just declare the dependencies as you would normally in install_requires (from setup.cfg) and that's it. No need for pinning exact dependency
