Interestingly, much of the current young woodland would have been gone, replaced by prairie and oak savanna.

Citation needed? They ate grass instead of corn, and spread their waste over vast areas of wilderness, ready to be incorporated back into the plantlife. Also, a quick Google search says there were 30-60 million bison roaming the plains. Tod

Can you point to anything specific that addresses the objection raised? Nobody contests that brick and mortar charter schools have higher performance - the issues come down to the resources they receive and the fact that they have unique ab

This seems like an area where regulations would be helpful. All persistently internet connected mobile devices with cameras must have one hardware activated status LED per camera, visible to the user. Same should go for microphones actually

What do you mean it’s not robust to log transformations? A log transformation changes the inference to be about the conditional geometric mean, certainly (the log of an average of x is not equal to the average of a log(x)), but this is ofte

That may be harmful to some birds, FYI. Among wildlife photographers, playing bird calls is sometimes considered unethical as it can interfere with their natural behavior, cause stress responses, interfere with mating activity, etc. Guide f

I have one of these... it needs to be re-greased, since it's currently making lots of noise when raising and lowering. It would also be vastly improved by implementing acceleration instead of just starting and stopping its motion at fu

I’m paying $60 for 10Mbps down and 0.5 up. It’s a weird situation. Windstream lies to the federal government and says they offer broadband to my area, when they don’t offer any service at all. The only actual provider (South Slope), which o

Whoa, this is about bodily autonomy, not economic inconvenience. You would subjugate women’s bodies for the economic concerns of males? That’s a completely nonsensical and abhorrent view.

It’s not really a meaningful comparison though - MOOCs have a lower (zero) barrier to entry, and a lower (zero) price of dropping. College is expensive, requires admission, and confers actual credit/degrees.
