This reminds me of car safety features, how drivers have become more complacent to offset the benefits. QR codes were made to be robust in the face of errors, but over time this has been eaten into for aesthetic purposes. Businesses commonl

I wanted to see how big the example clips encoded down to. Or is this just a technical test to see what it's capable of playing back, not an attempt to optimize the video size?

I'm apparently not good at spotting it. I was put off by the overly dramatic presentation. It gets tiring that the author apparently finds this more exciting than I do, and writes like it's enthralling. I just assumed it was an ex

If you never backed up the keys, any failure of the hardware/software results in loss of everything. Maybe you'd buy multiple of them and copy the keys over. You trust diceware because you can trust the dice to give random numbers

I saw the weird subtle pattern and first freaked out that my monitor's backlight was failing (high flicker rate revealing LCD refresh patterns). I also was playing a video with the browser in the background and it was choppy, and I fir

Who would ever trust the built-in seed generation of a wallet? Diceware, write them down, then enter them into the wallet.

I'd imagine that counterfeit-prevention is part of it. This theory predicts that they changed the design regularly, and each one was significantly different so operators could quickly tell whether it was the new design.

Rather than wipe the phone to an obvious reset state, this feature should boot into a benign setup with normal contacts etc. after it erases the user's data. Let the user periodically boot into this benign setup to add basic contacts e

The whole point of pimpl is to store additional per-object state in a separate object (to reduce header dependencies). So it should act just like normal member variables for standard constructors and assignment.

The point of each improvement is fewer easily-made errors. Having implicit deep copying handled avoids lots of errors with manually implementing it the oldest way.

Scrapers prefer old.reddit for the same reason users do: it's lean. Oh well, good thing Reddit has solved the scraping problem. It's a small price to pay to not have their site scraped anymore.
