The whole point of the article is that a number of sites (Google, Facebook, Netflix) are returning invalid sites because the browser is Vivaldi, not to make the site work with Vivaldi, but to make Vivaldi not work. It’s entirely the develop

Person years is a bad metric to compare to time years. You should compare the 18B person years to the about 5 trillion[1] person years that have existed since these cave paintings. Now that’s truly a long time, and shows how slowly these ch

I suppose the converse is that any profitable company’s share price will go up continually, as long as they don’t give dividends.

That’s only true as long as the buybacks are done using a cash pile. There are a lot of companies that, instead of trying to grow, give dividends to their investors (think utility companies). Their stock prices tend to be pretty stable, sin

The problem is not a monopoly, but abuse of a monopoly in a way that stops competition. If the bar owner started charging $100/beer and then forcefully stopped anyone else from opening a bar, that’d need to be broken up for a fair mark

Yeah, Duolingo is definitely enough of a tool if you want to start to use the language in the foreign country, but it’ll be very obvious that you’re a beginner. I’d say that’s probably the best way to learn, but you have to be prepared to b

Duolingo tries to do some spaced repetition, but it’s not very effective. Spaced repetition should be at least explicitly memorizing the definition of vocabulary (and related uses) with a smart algorithm while Duolingo only exposes you to w

There are lots of other general language learning apps, but they’re all about the same as Duolingo. However, more specific apps can be a very useful tool. Specifically, using a spaced repetition software is the best way to memorize vocabula

The problem is that many people see Duolingo (and Duolingo partially advertises itself this way) as the first and last step needed for learning a language. On the contrary, Duolingo is a good first step, but it's only a first step. Ins

A large point of video games is escape. AR takes that away. Plus, most people’s spaces aren’t set up for a game. For example, I couldn’t play Minecraft: Earth in my apartment since there isn’t a good flat space.

I can’t speak for OP, but most fasts of this kinds allow drinking water at the very least, and sometimes even light broths like chicken broth. Religious fasts, on the other hand, often don’t even allow drinking water.

Theoretically, if it were egregious enough, the EU could say to the owners or management of the company that if they went to the EU they would be arrested. That’s enough of a threat that it might convince them.

The example of typename shows that it’s a problem that can’t be overcome by the compiler, so it’s trading off one bad syntax for another, not trading off bad syntax for difficulty to implement.
