If designers are to blame at all, it's as much the fault of clients that won't back down when asking the designers to add more and more to every page.

Pretty sure this the pentatonic scale actually - so all black notes. It almost certainly woule be more cacophonous even if it was just all white notes, never mind the full scale.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but it does mention in the comment that x is not mutated.

I'm not disagreeing with your general point, but this does seem a little overkill when you could achieve a similar effect with a few constants: 5 * MINUTE 3.5 * HOUR etc.

Justified text is hard to get right as it needs typographic attention to prevent rivers or loose lines appearing - something that's not going to be realistic in the flexible layouts of the web. Also, apparently dyslexic people have a partic

The "animation" is most likely a side effect of the integration process, it's hard to avoid considering the high running time of force directed layout algorithms, especially because in this case it is brute force O(n2) rather than using som

You are right of course on both points, I was talking about Therevadan monks and was referring to an interpretation of the Pali canon when talking about what the Buddha said.

Actually most Buddhist monks depend on alms, so they aren't required to adhere to a vegan diet; they eat whatever the populace around the monastery offers. The only thing the Buddha ever said about eating meat is that one should not accept

If you're referring to type notation, I'd argue postfix works much better for languages that are mostly type inferred, as then there is a consistent way of declaring things.

That was my thought too, Eclipse JDT at least is pretty impressive, some of the other plugins not so much. I was surprised to see IntelliJ mentioned as supposedly good too, I wouldn't say it's terrible, but I find it somewhat lacking in com

Re: assets, you might not actually if all the assets are vector. It's not that uncommon in Flash, since originally it was just a vector animation tool.

I don't think there is any special Wacom integration despite the "Works with Wacom" (what doesn't?), it doesn't take notice of pressure or anything like that anyway. edit: My mistake. It detects when you're using the eraser, but that's it.

Actually the Flash version is done by drawing at a pixel level too (although some of the filter effects are indeed done by the player). The source is here: http://code.google.com/p/in-spirit/source/browse/#svn/trunk/... From my experience

This is a good illustration of how much slower JS/canvas is than AS3 at the moment, unfortunately. For comparison: http://blog.inspirit.ru/wp-content/uploads/fluidsolver/Main.... - a much more complicated algorithm running with more parti

That's also why they're "bad" though, when you let the machine handle your form you aren't getting the full benefit of the exercise.

The line breaks are classed as nodes (as is all whitepsace) unless you tell XML parsers to ignore them usually.

That's just laziness or lack of foresight on the part of the developers, adding customisable keys should be trivial.

Flash is vector based for the most part, but a few versions back they added objects that deal with bitmaps the traditional way, it works pretty well. But on the other hand, why bother with the vector stage at all? The image will have to be

It looks to me like this only exports animation, which I can certainly see how it might be useful, but isn't really that exciting. The menu they ran the export from is all JSFL scripts (a way of automating operations in the Flash IDE to a c

Verdana is designed for small type on monitors, so above about ~12px it becomes quite ugly and the kerning doesn't work as well.

Well, as it happens, this does indeed run incredibly badly in Flash. I didn't try to optimize it at all (I probably couldn't anyway) and it ran at about 8fps, whereas the JS runs at about 12-15 in Chrome.

What does Flash playing video have to do with raytracing in AS3? The AVM has nothing to do with the video decoding in Flash.
