Oh great a bad in-group joke on a page used to onboard new people. Who is this even for? How is anyone supposed to know what they actually mean

It's in no way interesting. It's a bunch of old, bad ideas duct taped together and renamed with nonsense words to both obfuscate what they're doing and establish an in-group language just as cults do.

I don't know how you can say it's irrelevant. Multiple standards can exist concurrently. Not even because they deserve to, but because people like them and are comfortable with them even if they are or aren't a bit crappy. Al

There’s a huge mismatch between people who are science fans and people who are doing physics anywhere near particle physics. It’s quite hard to explain how the field is spinning it’s wheels squared against what people consider scientific pr

You mess with it by doing diagrammatic perturbation theory, that is, calculating Feynman diagrams. Zee or Weinberg could be good references. There’s also lattice QFT but you generally want to learn the perturbative methods first

Links [1] and [3] are wrong, and link [2] is correct but has nothing to do with this discussion. Link [1] is so full of errors it isn't even worth discussing. The pingpong ball analogy is wrong--it's all wrong. Link [3] commits th

Yeah it's not necessarily true. I think Innuendo Studios/Ian Danskin explains this mechanism very very well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agzNANfNlTs Many people think Jeff Bezos should exist and have his wealth

No -- electrons travel at the Fermi velocity, which is about a tenth of the speed of light. You're talking about the drift velocity.

I don't really know how one does a part-time PhD. The kind of work that you produce during a PhD requires 4-6 years of full dedication. A part-time masters I could see.

Didn’t makerbot have those hot ends that were rebranded as disposable because they would just fail so often? I wonder if the new CEO seeing over R&D/operations was there for that.
