Does anyone actually prefer coding to the IRC and XMPP protocols instead of the Slack API ? https://github.com/erroneousboat/slack-term seems more than sufficient to me, and hackable if I find an itch to scratch... Bet

Apple was at Lucene Revolution in DC this past fall. It's a little silly IMO to extrapolate too much from a job posting -- Apple has had a large search infrastructure for a long time, as do most tech companies.

Ahhhh, I freaked out because I forgot this edge case: VPC vs Classic reservations don't affect whether you get a price cut or not, they only affect the capacity portion of the reservations -- being guaranteed to launch an instance of t

Here is one example: eye tracking could completely eliminate the need for alt tab or switching desktops. Put your keyboard's focus in a window by looking at it, and have it automatically recenter into your natural field of view. Stil

VMWare has this feature too, they call it vMotion. I haven't found anyone who could explain the resilience of vMotion in production use cases though.

Only thing I took issue with was "Instead, explicitly define your servers in your configurations for as long as you can." Maybe you can get away with this for a small scale deployment, but "as long as you can" sends a bi

Thanks for sharing! Here are my comments, mostly critiques but please note I really think you have a great start here. Nice clean interface, reasonably quick to use. Doesn't work with 1password. HTTPS isn't the default, and when r

I forked an extension released under MIT license because of this -- original author pushing shady updates. After I re-released it on the Chrome Store, now I get emails trying to buy "my" extension from me.

How are you deploying? You 'should' push a tarball to s3 and have web nodes pull it down. Red-black deploys via AMI changes are one way for sure, but those seem to be usually done via separate scaling groups entirely. Netflix ha
