That is wild. And so disrespectful of apps that may need that extra memory. I wonder if GrapheneOS will also suffer this memory overhead, once they do support this newest Android. Or possibly allow disabling it.

In case you are switching for better coverage, Google Fi now only uses T-Mobile towers. In my experience in a rural area, it's declining in coverage so badly that I'm switching carriers.

To be more specific, if we assume good faith upon our fine congresspeople to craft this well... ok yeah, well for hypothetical case I'll continue... What legal teeth I would advocate would be targeted to crawlers (a subset of bot) and

What we need is some legal teeth behind robots.txt. It won't stop everyone, but Big Corp would be a tasty target for lawsuits.

This too is part of a pattern. Punk followed rock and roll. Is GrapheneOS the band that brings the culture? I wanna say yes on its own merits, but it's the political buffoonery that makes me think it's caught some lightning in a b

This is not what they've claimed. Their pursuit of their own hardware phone next year could rattle the phone duopoly. If, and a big if, the intelligence agencies of the world will allow it to be sold.

I would love to see a diligently researched episodic series, every episode covering the transition of a popular open-source library/tool/app/site from one maintainer to the next. And that's why I don't run Netflix.
