In addition to the capabilities of language, usually it depends also on the ecosystem than the language itself (unless you want to write the entire algorithm by yourself for some reason). This is especially true if the algorithms used in th

I got curious when you said " old Fortran code, are slow, and have a high error between their predictions " Do you have any online reference/docs that explain apis/software/source code related to projects in this a

As one person pointed out in the thread, it also shows up on bing results, main repo, main.py file and releases page. But not on google. Edit: It also shows up on duckduckgo

Just to add, there are tools in C/C++ that addresses some of these issues. For instance, I use meson as much as I could, and their project is really makes it smoother. I feel like it should have been used more in the ecosystem.

Some of these are personal choices. Some of them are not. E.g. look at the blis project, compilation on windows is still problem. On the dependency issues, I would disagree. Firsly, large amount of dependency (especially if you working on c

Ok. There are some problematic people in any community (although I would require more scientific data instead of personal anecdotes to be convinced, e.g. comparing stats related to this behaviour across different PLs with meaningful statist

It all depends on what kind of project you work on. I work high performance libraries, when I compare the code C and Rust, the void is used alot of blas libraries, to dispatch different function with different type information. They also in

I am not sure if Rust advocates tell that it will "magically" fix logic errors. What I hear they say is rather more precise terms: Stronger Type system, and memory safety, forcing more explicit design (e.g. no function overload).

Any other source that goes thoroughly over the video of keynote since it was thoroughly debunked nearly everywhere I could not find it myself. Also, I would not call it thoroughly.

I am not sure if you understand the parent correctly (or I understand your reply). They mean shipping a different C/C+ frontend (e.g. Clang) together with Rust, which does not require any change in Rust frontend

Also, in my experience, the locality and unsafe api is better for testing purposes compared to unsafe language. If I have an unsafe code that provides safe api with certain safety conditions. 1) I have a more ergonomic/precise/loc

That is a great analogy. When I wrote my note/hws in latex, I had the urge to go look for a package more frequently. When I started converting those docs into typst, I was able to hack around more easily, it really did feel like a mode

But, this is more of a applied math than physics. There are many other scientist that contributed more towards understanding of quantum systems, e.g. Aharonov. Also, as a tool, it has not been as useful as influential as they make it out to

Yeah, it so fast that AMD is not even able to catchup and that many of the extensions is available only on Intel CPUs. As far as I could tell, it is only unstable in the sense of being fast and having many features. I dont see any breaking

In terms of speed, Rust is up there with C/C++. See e.g. https://benchmarksgame-team.pages.debian.net/benchmarksgame/... I also ported several algo from C and it was matching the performance. Regarding SIMD suppor
