When using Bitmessage, everybody receives all the messages in the blockchain. How is the timing attack going to identify him? Maybe Bitmessage helps receiving messages anonymously, but the timing attack might still be possible when sending

The Snowden could use Tor to access the website. Also, there's no other way to get the message to Snowden unless you give it publicity. If he browses the Internet for news, he will find there's a message from Wired for him.

Snowden, just remember that Kevin Poulsen and Adrian Lamo helped the US Government in catching Bradley Manning. EDIT: Also, a pretty safe way to carry an interview would be VPN + Tor + Bitmessage. EDIT2: Users sneak and tlb claim Tor isn&#x

Bitmessage is absolutely user-friendly. You are not even asked to enter a password.

I wonder what the source for this is. Verizon was ordered to hand over the metadata of all its US customers. http://m.guardiannews.com/world/2013/jun/06/nsa-phone-record...

This keeps getting worse.

I mean the scope of the already requested data, not of the data they could potentially request. It's indeed very sketchy that the NSA asks for the metadata of all the Verizon customers.

What matters is the scope of the access, how broad it is. Not if the access is "direct" or not. That's semantics. The NSA requested all metadata from Verizon. That tells us something new.

So now the debate is about what "direct access" exactly means, instead of about the content of the leaks, about the massive surveillance. Isn't this a misdirection?

As of 2008 there were reportedly eight million Americans listed in the database as possible threats, often for trivial reasons, whom the government may choose to track, question, or detain in a time of crisis.

Corrupt politicians might inflate the currency and buy votes with newly printed money. Bitcoin prevents that.

Even if you use a Bitcoin laundry service my understanding is that it's clear that your bitcoins went into such laundry. There is no deniability. Actually not even Zerocoin is enough, because it doesn't offer deniability either,

Bitcoin isn't enough because it isn't anonymous. We'll have to wait for Zerocoin.

And Bitmessage. It's a good substitute for email, Twitter and chan boards. It's a fork of the Bitcoin code. https://bitmessage.org https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_dTotavJZ8

What about EncFS (or some other encryption) + Bittorrent Sync?

EncFS + Dropbox Although this won't help if you get a rootkit in an update, since the source is closed.
