They started changing the definitions in C++11 to support move semantics. I don't remember much about C++98, that was decades ago. If that's what the Standard said back then I'll take your word for it, but I wasn't talki

Of course I know about the POD idiom. You and chipdart are misunderstanding me because there's a tension between how the C++ Standard defines things and how C++ gets used in real life. Because strictly speaking, the Standard doesn'

Any similarly of keyword naming between C and C++ is purely coincidental. :P C++ is somewhat unique in that it started out as a few extra features on top of C before gradually splitting off and mutating into a totally separate programming l

Didn't the early versions of Skype, which was coded by like 4 guys, do decentralized end-to-end encrypted messaging like 20 years ago? Before MS bought it and removed all the security at the behest of the government[0], I mean. So two

In other words, C structs and C++ structs are not the same thing (although C++ can usually handle C structs too). C structs are Plain Old Data. C++ structs are "objects" and there are pages and pages of rules in the C++ Standard a

The userspace read() and write() syscalls aren't the same thing as read()/write() in file_operations. Presumably the syscalls will be updated to use the new _iter operations. In fact, the syscalls already support f_op->read_ite

I don't own an EV so I don't understand... when I go to a gas station, I just tap my debit card and fill up. The price and running total is shown on a display on the pump. Why don't EV charging stations work that way?

No, 4D spacetime is a real thing in physics, which explains things like time dilation and the speed of light. But sci-fi does tend to abuse the term "dimension" for other ideas that are not scientific.
