When George Mallory was found on Everest, scavengers had eaten his internal organs from one hole in his (frozen) skin. He was like a human-shaped shell.

As a public institution, UW has an obligation to take seriously and investigate allegations of academic fraud. Besides that they also have a reputation to maintain.

Yes but what I’m saying is that the float doesn’t increase from 100 -> 200. There’s still only 100 shares on the market at any given time. If Alice shorts 100 cows on Monday, and then Bob shorts 100 cows on Tuesday, and both are due at c

But once borrowed, the shares can’t be borrowed a second time. So if 100 shares are borrowed and sold short, they’re back on the market, yes. But the total number of shares available is 100, not 200.

The details: a hedge fund decided to short retail stocks during the pandemic. They overextended with a naked short position against GameStop (that brick and mortar video game retailer) that exceeds not only the share float by a large margin

Some of it did. But that's missing what he's saying. The Fed injected a shit-ton of money into the economy last year, mostly through PPP forgivable loans. This money was supposed to go to the most vulnerable small businesses, b

This isn't getting rich through a greater fool theory. This isn't a pump-and-dump; it's a short squeeze. The only fool here is Melvin Capital which entered into some pretty foolish short positions and are suffering the price.

> I guess there are exceptions and warrants, That’s the entire point though, right? The politicians and law enforcement agencies want a way to provide those same exceptions for encrypted communications.

> The same way USPS doesn’t go around opening letters and getting rid of whatever they don’t like. Bad example because the USPS can and does use x-rays, Geiger counters, and sniffing dogs to inspect packages without actually opening them

“A few cents” was the amortized cost of those transactions, if the lightning channel is indeed used for everyday activities.

Yes. There is strait up clear evidence of his fraud. The tricks he used to convince Gavin were revealed later and shown to be fraud—he used slight of hand to reuse a historical block chain signature rather than produce one.

No, because people don’t use highly volatile speculative assets for everyday transactions. But I know you’re referring to the transaction fees, and it would only be fair to point out that the cost of a lightning transaction is a few cents.

There is no "window" for the second dose. It's a booster; it doesn't really matter when you get it, so long as it is more than 3-ish weeks from the first injection.

That's what I meant. Speed of light is 300,000,000 m/s. Divide by 3Ghz (3,000,000,000 clock/s) and you get 10 cm/clock. Wave propagation in an actual conductor is slower still. Edit window has elapsed though.

It's the most intuitive explanation of the 2-3GHz limit that I know of: at those clockrates, the speed of light is about 1 m/s. Factor in the slower speed of electrical signaling in metals and semiconductors, and it is properly me
