I'm in no way defending what Microsoft is doing here, but I would like to be able to have different clients for http:// & ftp://. Segregating client software by protocol makes perfect sense

True about no operator overloading, but that's just syntactical sugar for functions. I believe you can get integer parameter types by using something like the `convertible` contract seen here https://go.googlesource.com

In practice, what you end up doing is adding the `errcheck` linter to your build process and it finds all instances of you not dealing with an error return and it's "just-as-good" as a compile time check.

It's been said elsewhere in this thread, but there is a distinct difference between the knowledge you accumulate in years of engineering and the constant cycle of learning the new framework. Anyone can learn a new framework. Making goo

While this is technically true, I've considered `errcheck` to be standard tooling for what feels like forever now, and it does exactly this; make sure you're checking your errors.

Can you expand on this at all? I've looked at it as a replacement and I understand there are things like prop-types that are missing, but my understanding is that there are other libraries you can can use in addition to preact that giv

We use this too. It's not bad if all you're ever doing is returning json, but escaping from their `rest.ResponseWriter` to a normal `http.ResponseWriter` is always sad when you need to write out anything else. That's a pretty

Please elaborate on how DNS has failed? It seems to me that everyone uses DNS all the time and is an essential component of the Internet as we know it, but you and I may have differing notions of failure.

Isn't being somewhat monolithic Linux-like in itself? I've always been under the impression that Linux is a monolith kernel approach to Unix. Unless we're all switching to Hurd, caring about a monolith init system while runni

I haven't used Glide (only govendor) so I'm not sure exactly how it works. Are you checking your dependencies into your repository (we do this, it works very well). If not, are you pinning specific commit hashes? Is that even poss

I've run into that as well, but I've since come to favor avoiding that pattern entirely as a code smell. In your example, you end up modifying the struct value x, even if there was an error. Maybe there are cases where that is the

Just for contrast, when I'm exporting something in Go, using gorename makes it very easy to fix all the references within the package. It works the same when I'm un-exporting something as well. However, when un-exporting I have to
