That's something I never understood (and admittedly never researched either). Isn't there something in the constitution about freedom of association?

My first thought was civil disobedience on the part of Apple's developers too… But I couldn't make it work out in my head how that could result in a positive outcome.

7 year old iMac with a dodgy GPU, and I crashed and burned. Can only run in safe mode now. While this is a not-uncommon occurrence for me, it's really freaking annoying.

Should I ask myself, "Do I love this rabbit hole?"? Edit: The answer is YES.

When trying to re-read Ringworld, I mis-remembered it as DiscWorld, and then entered the bizarre mind of Terry Pratchett. Best mistake I ever made.

Perhaps it's because developers always look for edge cases, whereas "normal users" look for comfort -- or ease-of-use.

I guess my reaction is such that the term "Content" relegates an article (or a slide deck) to being a unit of commerce, rather than a summary of thought (or of emotion).

As somebody with no dog in this fight, I cannot help but wonder if there's a correlation between PageRank and the rise of referring to text on a page as "Content", rather than, well, "An Article".

I wish there were a way to quantify that impulse, because that is often my first thought when presented a click-baity link: "Shall I award my attention to this"?

and you're the reason I spent too much time on the Mass Pike ;) There's no such thing as merge , there is only shove ! Edit: No blame devolves to you. As I said, it's a cultural thing.

From my memories of driving in Boston, defensive drivers were an absolute menace. If you don't drive aggressively, you're the cause of problems… Perhaps each autonomous car needs to have a cultural knowledge, based on location.

Question borne of ignorance: Have any of these vendors opened themselves up for any legal liability for these shenanigans? Also, if some small developer wrote a mobile app to control such devices, would they also see themselves liable?

As a thought experiment: What would the repercussions be if Apple did pull iPhone sales out of the UK? I'd guess that there would be huge complaints from the populace. I'd guess that Android providers would swoop in. However, gi

Makes me want to re-read Cryptonomicon again. The Imitation Game movie was a disappointment to me, after having read that book -- but I have to admit I don't remember if the Polish contribution was mentioned in the book!

I guess my worry is that I don't know what I don't know (regarding security), but I'm pretty sure there are use-cases that haven't even been defined yet (insert favourite Relmsfeld quote here).

I started taking a deep-dive look at iOS HomeKit, and was alarmed at the security implications that would be on my shoulders. I'm not an embedded engineer type, so the security burden I saw being hefted upon my shoulders felt much more
