Agreed. I'm trying to strike a balance here between painting the full picture and being approachable for people who are scared of math. These notes are super helpful though--we can probably nod briefly to this complexity without gettin

There are echoes of some zen/meditation ideas in here. I'm just starting to get into that kind of stuff. Curious to hear if Paul meditates, and what resources he (and other HNers) recommend for getting into it.

Not Sam's (and pg's) usual style of super-pithy and easy-to-read writing. Did this get rushed out the door?

I like skeuocard's experience a lot. But it's not responsive, so it was a no-go for me. Ended up rolling my own. One great optimization skeuocard has is it only asks for the cc# at first, then the other fields appear as you type i

I think there's some truth to this. Companies should weigh past work more heavily, and let candidates do real work with the team as part of the interview process, IMO. That being said, I think these whiteboard problems can be useful wh

Hey there! Yep, bootstrap and angularjs in the front, Django in the back. Cloudfront CDN to handle the static assets (I've /really/ fallen in love with their product--so easy to set up). And of course, Stripe for payments.

Love to get some thoughts from people on the pricing. Today the first 3 questions are free, and it's $5 for access to the other 11. How would people feel about $10? $20? What if there were 30 questions, sorted into different topics?

Sorry the site's a little slow guys. I'm up to 100 dynos on Heroku but things are still a bit sluggish at times. Looks like I need to move more stuff over to the CDN? Thanks for the load testing!

Yeah, that page is there so people who have finished all questions can go back and review. You can basically get around the paywall using this link. I figure people who dig around to find a way around the paywall probably wouldn't have

I dig this problem. One thing it doesn't touch, though, is the importance of using descriptive variable names to organize your thinking (in this case the var names are kind of a given--left, right, node..."current" is the onl

For a browser that runs JS the author mentions PhantomJS, but looks like its Python support is iffy. Mechanize is super-easy in Python: http://www.pythonforbeginners.com/cheatsheet/python-mechaniz... Edit: so easy, in

I'm building a web app that takes a similar approach (mobile-friendly, you can expose hints as you work through the problem, etc): www.interviewcake.com. Love to sync up and share notes. My email is in my profile.
