Sometimes hacking and cracking coexist. Examples include the reverse engineering of CSS (DVD encryption), figuring out how to jailbreak an iPhone, and even more questionable acts like writing a virus to innoculate systems against other vir

Why does your concept of hacking begin and end at writing code? This book describes a number of real-life hacks: social engineering, exploiting legal vulnerabilities, circumventing security devices, etc.

But it's tough when State B is a place like New Hampshire, who are more than happy to keep taxes low at the expense of having relatively poor services. Two different states, two very different sets of priorities.

OMNIWeb for OS X supports vertical display of tabs as well. They do it in a 'drawer', in the OS X interface parlance. I love this feature but eventually moved on from OMNIWeb as it got passed in stability, capability, elegance, speed, etc

I mean, how would you write a WIN32 GUI in a functional language? F# seems like a good choice.

Seconded. I cannot imagine any good will come of his getting caught. He should keep his head down -- not tell ANYONE about what he did, even his friends -- and hope no one notices. Whether he gets caught or not, this strikes me as a good

I try to get this point across to my dad (a physics professor) all the time. He is still hung up on its non-citability for scholarly purposes. But when you just need to look up something about the discrete wavelet transform and don't need

I mean that any site which helps some random social spreadsheeting startup choose some dumb name like Oodlu or Uffli is NOT MY FRIEND. (Thankfully for you and them, my friendship is not worth much in USD.)

I will never use it. I take as my enemy any site which supports and enables the crimes-against-humanity naming scheme of modern Internet startups!

I realize that this isn't the same schema that launched MediaWiki. Its retained focus and ability to sustain growth without sprawl tells me that the schema was well thought out.

It's amazing what happens when good designers think about their data structures, rather than write first and refactor later (or don't).

He doesn't have to justify anything to anyone. It's just that Apple's runaway success has depended, depends, and will probably continue to depend on Steve Jobs being there. He knows it, and everyone with AAPL stock knows it too.

Having a logo or not has nothing to do with the fact AA looks ugly as hell. Again, I am not sure what you want from a T-shirt. AA shirts fit me great -- better than any other manufacturer. What is ugly about a T-shirt that fits?
