Of course it has to do with SEO. The reason to write those fake reviews is not (only) to get people reading those before the product is out, but mostly to have better google rankings (page age seems to have some weight).

The author implements an inneficient algorithm using python and then a better one using C. He seems to feel python is for dirty brute force and C is for "real" programming...

"Rationally there is no point in having children at all" What does that even mean? Is it "rational" to stay alive? (isn't it only "worth it" because your genes order you not to kill yourself?)

Exactly, I also find it a bit confusing. I assume they are capturing variables (it would be crazy otherwise!) but they treat loop variables differently (as if a new variable was created every time).

The author seems to find that lambdas capturing the same loop variable is counter intuitive, but, honestly, that's the behavior I would expect from it!

Excellent read. I specially liked this part: "In fact some people get far more support than others. For example, I’m not going to name any names, but when a top tier VC writes a five million dollar check to a 19 year-old with a barely-beyon

Strictly speaking no GUI can be written using only a programming language like perl, java, tcl... I/O has nothing to do in the discussion comparing Turing Complete vs. "supporting some language feature in a way that makes it practical f

I don't know... I like the message, but a programming language seems to be the wrong medium to convey it. I would at least have used a procedure call to represent input from people, instead of an unbound variable :P

I came here to say the same. The ability to drive and connect commands programatically is what makes the CLI so powerful. Sure, some GUIs let you extend them via some embedded scripting language, but nothing beats single-use bash scripts in

It is a bit cynical to mention the role of the internet in the uprise against Mubarak as an example of the internet being "america's greatest weapon" given Mubarak's position as a longtime US ally.
