Wow, I'm not alone. I knew there had to be other Pinback fans out there :)

Exactly! I always think of the official demos as "this is as good as it gets". Look at how Unreal Engine advertises. Beautiful! Will your game look like that? Probably not, but it potentially could! All the Flutter demos I've

What's up with scrolling on all these demos? It feels insanely slow and jerky.

Whoa, yeah, none of those Qt demos are good or even seem to work properly. Yikes.

Yep. My experience as well. In a large project, the types often end up being pointless since you can easily just ignore them at any time, and the "compiled" JS will just happily go along with it all. Eventually I hit a point where

This is my problem with TS. The underlying JavaScript peeks it's gross head through the cracks way too much. I end up not bothering with types since they're often wrong at runtime anyway.

I've found this to be true as well. I'm a data engineer in my day job, and I've been doing part-time game development for about 2 months. It feels early but I'm forcing myself to learn Blender and polish my animations an

Whichever one of the two is the biggest bully doesn't matter, in reality they can both act like Big Brother. I think CS Lewis' N.I.C.E from That Hideous Strength is more true to life than 1984.

I was thinking "why would Google buy the developer of the Tony Hawk games?" but that's Neversoft. Oops.

Same reasons the news media ever tries to scare people. Propaganda, softening people's opinions of some political party, moving the Overton window, etc.

I'm going to travel to see my family for Christmas. I know I'll probably get hidden, flagged, whatever for saying that. I've known lots of people who have had the virus and I'm of the opinion that these news stories are

I agree. I came to realize a few years ago how arbitrary the HTML, CSS, JS separation is. It makes sense if you think of the web as simply a set of documents (with progressive enhancement and all that), but we've gone way beyond that m

I agree, but one problem with headphones though is that you don't feel the low tones. The bass will end up too loud if all you ever use is headphones. At the very least, you need to listen to the penultimate mix on speakers. There'

What it might need to do is index commonly searched terms and provide a reverse lookup to the location of the row... oh wait, that's called a search engine. :)

I hear this a lot, but I've never understood it. Do most albums have 1 or 2 stinkers? Sure, but I still don't skip tracks. I enjoy music the most when it's in the larger context of an album. I like anticipating my favorite so

I'm 34. I've heard 'No Diggity' now, but a couple of years ago it was one of those songs I always heard people talk about with 90s nostalgia, but I somehow wasn't aware of it in the 90s. I knew 'No Scrubs'

Looking at all of history, I'm very optimistic. Going way back to Cuneiform and the printing press, and the internet itself, they all point to a general principle of the breaking up of monolithic information sources over time. It might
