The more I read about this, the more it seems likely the next big architecture could come from an aliance between Apple and Intel (similar to how PowerPC was owned). Although Apple are big on ARM, I can’t see them completely abandoning x86

Will be interesting to see what Apple does about this in their next software update. I can’t imagine many people will be happy if the next software update forcibly disables hyper threading. (For those who aren’t familiar with Apple devices,

As an employer, if you had to choose between two candidates, one of whom was harder working, much more likely to stay long term, had more experience, and was cheaper, which one would you choose? Some of those points you can’t do much about,

Build quality of Thinkpads is usually a lot better than Apple in terms of robustness, and if something breaks it is usually easy to replace just the part that’s broken (Lenovo offer on-site repair option for most machines). This is their te

They are pretty popular in London for the last mile commute - it’s faster than a bus, and easier to transport on trains and store than a bike.

Was it in the 70s you went? All European countries now have indoor smoking bans, mostly for a decade or more. Some countries still let you smoke in bars and restaurants, but nowhere allows you to smoke inside a supermarket.

Phones are my biggest complaint - not mine as all sounds have been turned off, but everyone else’s. You get a sound when you receive a message, when you unlock it, when you type a message and when you send a message. It’s just so pointless

I believe US carriers have began to shutdown their 2G network, so 3G is a requirement. Most of these dumb phones only have 2G hardware though. I’m not sure why the EU hasn’t done the same though.

I switched from a MacBook Air to a similarly spec’ed (4260U vs 5200U) Thinkpad a couple of months ago, and noticed a vast performance difference when playing games. When playing games the processor gets up to 85C, but doesn’t throttle. It’s
