Not an expert, but I am pretty sure that the idea to make non-paid, voluntary work that is inspired by a sense of community illegal to strengthen some 21. century understanding of workers rights is the straight up opposite of a Marxist utop

Except they knew it upfront. ...which I would argue would be the relevant criteria. Signing up for unpaid community duties and then trying to pressure myself into a job does not feel honest to me, at all.

But other than Reddit, Facebook or Amazon, Twitter does seem to have a growth problem. I'm not a user and I don't think that I have strong feelings about their service but if forced to visit their page I'm confused most of th

This. Also inconvenience, time spent, process complexity etc. In fact piracy can cost so much, people pay actual money to avoid it. I think that is why Spotify et al. are so popular among prior pirates.

That's probably good - unless all the advertising money goes to comparatively hidden ad formats as native ads or stuff like product placement. Because if ads were not to disappear, I wouldn't know whether I'd necessarily pref

With Spotify et al., prices for access to music settled on a low monthly rate. You get all the music for the price of half a CD a month.

The only problem is probably the many funding models that assume otherwise, therefore rely on an uneven age distribution with a bigger share of younger participants (like many western pension funds, etc.) While I can imagine that it's

While I think that this is a very bad idea, one could dynamically name them in a defective way. The relevant information (blocking lists) are openly available.

Compared to Amazon search ads, Googles are trivial to block. But I think that in both cases as well as with Facebook newsfeed ads, cosmetic filters are the way to go anyway. Those add css properties to page elements that make the element di

You accidentally approached the net neutrality mindset from an utility maximizing point of view. A central premise of its advocats is that net neutrality is a value on its own. (More like a natural right.) Therefore, utility arguments that

Such debates are always a funny move. It's like saying "let's have a national talk over encryption versus ethernal peace and harmony". Arguing for encryption in such a frame is determined to be a failure.

Classic approach would be: You have an inflation rate (measured through a time series of Consumer Price Indices) for a given timeframe and an initial amount of money. Multiply it. It's just to compare purchasing power over time.

I guess a good rule of thumb is: If you can pack what you think is the motivation for such a big and time intensive project as the EU into one tweet, it's probably far from the truth.
