If locking down on the extension ecosystem were only temporary they could just defer the nearing downgrade of their main line browser until their replacement is fully functional. But that's not what they do. Instead we do have a clear

I'm not the previous commenter, but on Android Mozilla is removing the ability to install extensions from third parties (think GitHub, etc.) and will trim the only left official extension store down to a few extensions. (I think it

I can see how a unified board would take a lot of pressure from their companies but society-wise it would probably be better if such boards were separate, both for comparability and power spreading reasons.

But I didn't argue that they shouldn't do it because we don't know whether people will compromise themselves. I argued they shouldn't do it despite knowing that people will have the ability to compromise themselves.

I don't think any of this is necessary. I know we often say "the user is dumb, therefore software should patronize them", but that really only goes so far. On hindsight it looks like a balancing act where single features are

Would also be bad for all extensions Mozilla does not allow in their extension store. All software stores can be pressured to remove content. Keeping the ability to load non-store extensions fixes that specific deplatfoming problem.

In many regions, especially suburban or rural regions, _a_ car is a necessity, yes. That doesn't mean it has to be an expensive car though. Many Americans make awful decisions around their cars. We had this thread five months ago:

Maybe you didn't mean it this way, but I think that advertising bitcoin for it's stable value is really disingenuous. It's a very volatile high risk product.
