/shrug It's more local than github is. Whether it's a server running in your basement, or the filesystem served by the next rack over in your on-prem datacenter, it doesn't seem unreasonable to refer to it as 'local

"local" can also be a network fileshare. It could also be in a directory that is treated differently than your other checkouts - whether that's something like deployment, sharing over the web, running CI, etc.

Well, there's degrees of understanding, as well as degrees of seriousness of the project. You can also learn a lot by building something. Some people are writing the Netflix homepage (where an outage costs millions of dollars), and som

It's not a hard-brick. Reinstalling Windows fixes it.

I haven't encountered one as a driver either, but I'm pretty sure "Don't drive into roads with water on them" was a basic safety question on the permit test.

A flooded road is a very predictable event, though.

Just as a heads-up for non-magic players, each of those 40-card decks contains several multiple-thousand dollar cards. I wouldn't be surprised if those 240 cards cost over $50,000.

"Translation tools" is AI, so it's correct that our AI-sensors went off. Edit: Also, speaking as a trans person, the analogue would be looking at a trans person and noticing that they are trans. Which is not a transvestigatio

Seconding ad-blocking. I have a low-end phone (4GB ram, and a mediatek processor from 2018), and setting up DNS-based ad-blocking made a lot of sites go from unusable to usable.

Thankfully, you don't need a perfect record to dismiss theories like "a wizard did it."

It does seem like LLMs write better Python when told to use type annotations, especially when coupled with a linter.

Police, like the military, should be held to a higher standard, because we grant them a monopoly on violence.

I'm always missing out on interesting stuff. There's more great stuff being produced every day than can ever be read. It's just one more heuristic to apply.

And an LLM-written codebase is strongly correlated with a terrible codebase. So much so, that it's rarely worth your time to seriously evaluate it.

The threads that have the top comment saying "this is AI slop" are nearly always about an article that is obvious AI slop. Threads that aren't - like this one - don't.

Yeah, I tend to agree. What does improve quality-of-life substantially is having a proper effect system, especially when it comes to composing higher-order functions. Having to write copies of List.map and List.async_map in the stdlib is a

Just a heads up, you are currently following the early stages of AI-induced psychosis. You can get any LLM to roleplay as anything with enough persistence - it doesn't mean that "really is" the thing you've made it say -
