I remember first starting to read reddit probably about a year or so before digg v4. Originally I thought the site style was boring, but I kept coming back because there was always fresh content. I noticed that after digg v4 things started

It's like somebody in Moscow, Idaho getting upset that people don't refer to it as Moscow, Russia. Face it, Portland, Oregon is the real Portland.

I agree. The way Apple is run today is every other department exists to make Steve and his design pals happy. Unlike most other technology companies, design is king and it should stay that way.

Looks like this update is available over-the-air. Glad to see that. Although I seem to be getting an error when I try. Anyways, full changelog here (without login): http://www.bgr.com/2011/07/22/apples-full-change-log-for-ios...

The cloud is going to eliminate the need for Windows IT infrastructure. Who needs group policies when you run everything in the cloud?

The "node" text is visually distinct from the "js" hex. It isn't really a cohesive logo. I think the node text leaves a lot to be desired. It's cluttered, inconsistent, and that sort of hex lettering is cliché. I agree with you. Using only

I saw this graphic in a WSJ piece a while ago. Obviously many patents are probably unrelated to mobile, but still. Pretty shocking: http://si.wsj.net/public/resources/images/MK-BN208A_norte_G_... That is some serious ganging-up on Google.

Very interesting. Proponents of "Paleo" diets always say that it reduces cancer risk, but this looks to be a solid study. But they did keep fat percentage low, unlike low-carb diets like the Atkins diet which call for 50% fat.

I think there's no doubt this is great for Valve. But as a player who dearly misses vanilla TF2, how is Valve going to combat the influx of greifers and hackers? What stops someone from running TF2 in a VM and continually making new account

And they took it down. Usability didn't look great. But at least they made the page load faster. Techcrunch is horrible because it takes ages to load. They really need to optimize it.

I agree. I won't even consider a Windows laptop because of this. Though it is a shame that Apple has a gimped touchpad driver in Windows. The touchpad in OS X and Windows isn't even comparable.

That tech isn't really DRM. It in no way reduces or inhibits current functionality. All it does is provide something extra that content providers may choose to use (for streaming hd video). You aren't forced into using it, and if you don't

This is unrelated to some of the demos, but one advantage to using CSS as opposed JavaScript, particularly regarding animations, is that CSS animations can be hardware-accelerated.

I think the idea is that if you use single quotes for strings, you don't have to escape the double quotes that are often found in html. '<p id="foo">something</p>' But the same goes for something like "you can't do that" I g
