Halide comes to mind (though it a DSL and not a full independent language). I wonder if Futhark does? Eg https://futhark-lang.org/student-projects/pedersen-nelin-msc...

Depends on the programming language. A good question is why we don't have more optimizable languages in mainstream use.

Technically they are, just a subset. But still a practical one, they're frequently used to produce executable files.

The Mac is very feeble compared to the big iron that the providers run so will be much lower performance. Also many companies would prefer engineers work on the domain problems instead of working on novel LLMs.

The thing about Docker is that it's pretty nebulous, might mean the namespace-based container thing, or might mean the virtual machine app (Docker Desktop), or might mean the agent sandboxing thing (Docker Sandboxes).

There are ways to trade off compute power for memory bandwidth (like MTP and other speculative decoding approaches). The CPU and GPU would need to be able to share the same cache for this to work. In the Strix Halo case the GPU has a privat

I was thinking more about the 0-3 year old midrange x86 laptops and phones, they have unified memory GPUs that are easily worth using (vs CPU), support narrow FP datatypes but don't have a ton of memory bandwidth.
