Worth noting that the non-free repos are not a part of Debian and don't get security support. The free Nvidia driver is not affected.

Containers aren't strong security boundaries so the question still remains. If you get RCE in a containerized app you can tickle eg host kernel bugs, container runtime bugs, etc.

Garbage-ness of search results is not binary, the right question is: can LLMs improve the quality of search results? But sure, it won't end the cat and mouse game.

Thanks. If anyone has a link to results handy I'd be intersted. In particular a lot changes can be said to be 0-5% where the average is very close to 0...

Is there some benchmarking work that has quantified this speedup from aliasing guarantees or is this more of a sufficiently smart compiler[1] thing? [1] https://kidneybone.com/c2/wiki/SufficientlySmartCompiler

GPUs are all about (compute & memory) bandwidth. Using the same building blocks of compute units doesn't yet it go fast. You need a lot of compute units and a lot of bandwidth to feed them. The performance dependency on DGPUs doesn

Yep, there's no performance x86 CPUs on the market with ambitious GPUs, only laptop chips. Games are optimized for discrete GPUs, Apple didn't have that software inertia to deal with.

The reality distortion field is not dead, rebranding the iGPU like this even convincing the technical crowd has been a great marketing win for Apple.

What's impressive is that MS has such well trained customers that it can get away with extremely buggy and broken web apps. Fundamental brokenness like collaborative editing frequently losing data and thousand cuts of the more mundane

Do you find that you value the relational model that a ORM constructs on top a non-relational DB? Or do you use it more like a "OM" without the R?

I see, the ORM backed objects are lazy and trigger I/O when the data is accessed. On first blush I'm surprised that Rust culture would go for this as it spread network i/o (incl network errors), async waiting and memory alloc

As this is using wgpu, it will be interesting if in the future they get it to run in the browser (Python already does, with Pyodide). There are some tickets about it: https://github.com/pygfx/pygfx/issues/650

Some serverless DB services claim to offer transparent geo replication (eg AWS DynamoDB, and MS Cosmos which known for being expensive though). But also most apps don't need low latency.

The link is bad from a web browser POV so that's correct - it's using the DNS name from the ip address reverse lookup, but the web server cert there identifies to a different Google DNS name which would point to the same address.

Is there reason to think there's some obstacle for later loading them? At least on x86 you can compile the usb stuff as modules and load as late as you like.
