But aptible doesn't have managed postgres. I still have to do all the work of setting up a database and managing backups, upgrades, etc. The only thing aptible brings to the table is single tenant hardware and encryption by default. I

Congratulations to @asksol and the rest of the team for sealing the deal on 4.0! I've been waiting for a number of the features now in 4.0 for a long time now. I know you guys have been busting your asses for a long time and juggling w

Does anyone have an abbreviated explanation of what the security vulnerabilities that were addressed here? I recall there was a very ominous post to look out for this release because of some nasty stuff they found.

Why did it take so many months for the orbiter to get a photo? Compared to the rest of the achievements of this mission, it seems like this should have been relatively easy: 67P is all of like 2.5 miles wide and the orbit is at like 10 mile

The traditional argument against hiring senior people in a young company is usually a mistake because cash is precious and senior people are usually too expensive to fully utilize since at a startup everyone ends up having to do bitch work

Yes that's a good point! This seems to be simply a case of bad customer service rather than bad technology. I guess Another reason not to use DigitalOcean for projects requiring high availability I suppose.

There are quite a few and of course it depends on your needs. Personally I like AWS and SoftLayer. They both have world class data centers and tons of different advanced ways to build and configure systems, numerous availability zones acros

While this sounds frustrating, I wouldn't ever put anything that required high availability on DigitalOcean. DigitalOcean is great because they are cheap & simple to get stuff setup - not because they are robust and redundant.

I'm a little horrified to suggest this seriously, but this could be a cool way to accomplish consistent field validation between server and client. I wrote this little library https://github.com/fuhrysteve/marshmal

You typically use something like uwsgi or gunicorn to serve requests, and it's uwsgi & gunicorn that decide how many processes or threads to start. These typically sit behind a load balancer and / or a reverse proxy. In terms

This is really cool, thanks for sharing it! I've been looking for tools that do things like this, however most things I've found end up being thrown together crap whose only goal is to serve as click-bait. My suggestion is to spen

Totally agree. I don't want to invest my time using a service that I don't trust will be around in 5yrs. Would love to pay a few bucks a month for this service to help alleviate that fear. Making money is a good thing.

They have a policy not to say anything or make any promises. That said, using history as a guide, it seems to take them about 2.5 months after a major release to add support.

This is just a prototype, but it is an attempt to solve a big problem I've had: describing a schema to a remote client system (browser / mobile / etc) in a portable way. Sure, I could just use a traditional form library to re

Great news, long overdue. Neovim has been quite stable for many months now. Most people I know use the nightly builds, which was fine until they introduced some BC breaking stuff this week, which threw everyone off. Bunch of snobs on gitter

This here is some of the beauty of linux - psql simply pipes the output to less - a tool that is made exclusively to handle these sorts of "look at a bunch of text on a terminal" problems. Most of the problems less exists to solve
