In general, I don't trust FreeBSDs upgrade process after failing it several times on both desktop and server. The merging system scripts is a huge problem, but I've had other problems as well.

I had to look up what this was. At first I thought it was the same as a felt tipped pen, which is what I primarily use, but I guess we're both in different minorities. EDIT: guess I'll add why I like felt tipped pens. I like how

They may not care about how much RAM it is using, but the blatant disregard for resource usage manifests in other ways. Most people I know are just resigned to believe their 4GB RAM laptop will be obsolete in a few years. When things &quo

Does that happen automatically in some cases? I think I'm on 8.6 and I'm pretty sure I forgot the expr and it worked OK. Could have been a string operation or something, I don't have the code to check on hand.

I love TCL. The author points out my favorite aspect: "it has a radical minimalism". I use it for hobby projects because I work in Python all day professionally and like to mix it up a little in my free time. It feels very diff

How does the AGPL differ from some of the other cloud protected licenses that have been discussed here recently? Specifically, the polyform licenses[1] and the TimescaleDB license[2]? [1] https://polyformproject.org/licenses

This is right up there with the "to gain users, build a product that users like by talking to users" paradox.

There was a discussion a few weeks back about TimescaleDB doing a "Cloud Protection License", which seems to mean that they reserve the right to offer the product in a cloud offering. Seemed to me like a good compromise. https:&

Thanks for keeping this site online, I used it back in high school to learn QB, well past the glory days of QB (~2005). I'm sure there's plenty of people stumbling into QB to this day and using the resources there. Also, that

I agree with the premise of your position, but it is a bit of an exaggeration to say that everyone would be responsible for every task in society. Even in pre-industrial times people specialized. Towns had tanners, butchers, blacksmiths,

I've thought about a similar idea; VCS backed documentation tool with an (optional) web based interface. The reason I started thinking about this problem is because of how code documentation becomes so stale so quickly. At my job, we
