From my understanding, this project started as Savant. Savant pitched to YC15, didn't get in and slowed down work - eventually stopping. They made the project open source. It appears Atlas Recall is a repackaged version of Savant http

I have to disagree. This is not how the business world works. If a client is being an ass, you have the right to fire them. Upwork doesn't afford you this opportunity unless you want to see your JSS drop by dozens of points.

I've aways done this. I don't do it to be minimalistic but rather as a way to just not have a ton crap around. I also don't wash my hair with soap. Again, no real reason other than I don't feel the need to.
