That most likely won't happen though. In a month most people won't be talking about this and Twitter will be running fine.

Java requires a much more advanced GC and JIT because Java programs tend to allocate a lot more and have extremely bad memory layout when you're not restricting yourself to primitives. Project Valhalla's value types will significa

I agree with everything you wrote but would add that it's even more complicated because there are cases, albeit rare in my experience, where full monomorphization produces slower code due to cache misses. I believe std::format in C++

If it was up to me I would have gone with full monomorphization because I don't care about binary size or compilation time quite as much as the current Go developers. However, the decrease in performance of the current implementation i

The restriction of not introducing new generic types on methods has nothing to do with why that code doesn't compile. Remove the '>' in the method signature and it works fine.

Modern Spring Boot is still incredibly bloated and full of questionable design patterns. A simple web application should not consume hundreds of megabytes of RAM by default and startup time on modern hardware should be basically instantaneo

That depends entirely on the implementation. Almost every respectable implementation strategy is going to have better performance characteristics than an interface{} though.

I've used all of those and more and spent a decade deep in the purely functional Scala/Haskell camp. Diving into a moderate or large Go code base is always far easier for me even though I've used Go much less than the others

Typescript is also far slower both in terms of runtime and compilation time, uses much more memory, and is far more complicated which in turn has led to a ton more compiler bugs. It also inherits a ton of questionable features and API decis

Basically everything of interest on the average user's computer can be obtained without a ring-0 driver. Riot's incentive for the driver is extremely clear and it's not in their financial interest to abuse it.
