Yes, but how do you value a bonus, if you don't know how much it is, or whether you'll get it? A salary of 50K is a salary of 50K, you get 50K over a year. How does that compare to a salary of 45K + bonus? Is it more, less, or the same?

Not all web applications are written in PHP. Not all Web Developer jobs require PHP. If the only reason you don't want to be a web developer is because you don't want to do PHP, then one of the alternatives is to be an ASP Web Developer.

I spent 7 years, full time in failed startups, I would declare 3-4 of that "wasted". For the first 2-3 years, we were reasonably well funded (by both Investors and customers) and doing interesting work. I was drawing a reasonable but not o

I don't understand the point of this. All of those browsers have javascript enabled by default. If you have managed to turn it off, surely you can work out how to turn it back on again.

It's not the facts themselves, but the way they are expressed: 1) Cleopatra lived closer in time to the moon landings, than the building of the pyramids. 2) The Comparison of Moores Law to A Series paper at the start of this talk: http://w

It may solve a problem, but it creates a new one. Before listening to my mp3 player on a train, I leave the buds out of my ears and hold them in front of me, to gauge volume so as to not annoy my fellow passengers. This practice is rendere

The Roman Catholic Church refused to deliver mass in vernacular until very recently. This was the entire point. The message from the RC Church was indeed "Don't read the bible, we'll tell you what it's all about". In fact, Bible ownership

I'm not expressing an opinion on the case either way, but comparing Paul Chambers to John Betjeman is rather flawed. There's a big difference between "I wish someone would bomb X", and "I'm going to blow X up". Even out of context, Betjeman

Exactly - the author has a clear anti-XHTML, pro-HTML bias, even to the point of telling us that Google don't support any XML-born technology.

I believe that the "million dollar homepage", and "one red paperclip" were quite financially successful. Both super simple and quick to build, however, as others have mentioned - it's not the thing itself, but the marketing of it that is i

Here is a bunch of feedback: There doesn't appear to be any opportunity for TDD (or any kind of testing or iteration), even for something simple like checking syntax (I submitted one with a missing ';'). As a result, it does not come close
