The difference will exist at some point in the future when I want to convert those flacs/mp3s to a new lossy format for some reason (e.g. when the only place you can buy an mp3 player is in an antique shop). Then when my great grandson

I agree that the website looks awful, but it always baffles me when people blame open standards for the fact that their devices don't support them. It's like blaming USB for the fact that a micro-usb plug doesn't fit into a l

Not really. If I found a page that redirected me to a login, I would assume that that page is not intended to be publicly available, and that other content that I don't know about exists which is not intended to be publicly available.

I don't think RIPA even requires an accusation. A complete innocent who is not under suspicion of anything can be served with a disclosure requirement if they hold the key to information that the authorities desire. This is a sorry st

Don't equate the term "accused" with the term "convicted". They mean totally different things. We have no evidence that detritus has been convicted of any crime, so is not in the same situation as the subject of t

Almost, but I'd like to suggest an amendment to your first conclusion: Time travel may well be possible, but unbounded backwards time travel is clearly not possible. It may be the case that a machine will be invented that allows peop

Language and nation are not the same thing. Sadly, a policy like this would open up a can of worms. Should the Cherokee syllabary be permitted in .us domains? If so, you are still open to homograph spoofing against the Latin character set

IMHO, The banning of "what have you tried", and the removal of "too localized" will lead to even more poor pedagogy. The question to which the author links (2387218) is a perfect example of a wholly unresearched question

The entire Holmes canon has been in the public domain in its original country of publication for some time. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle died in 1930 (more than 70 years ago) and I don't see any evidence that he wrote anything about Mr. Holm

Shops over a certain floorspace have restricted opening hours on Sundays. (see: https://www.gov.uk/trading-hours-for-retailers-the-law ) Some shops exploit a loophole in that a shop isn't open unless the tills are open.
