What would be a better title? "Hallucinating" seems inaccurate. Maybe "Untrustworthy machines"? "Critical thinking"? "Street smarts for humans"? "Social studies including robots"?

Have you tried Science News? I currently read neither, but at one point I switched from the fluffy Scientific American to the no-nonsense Science News.

I would expect diversity to decrease with diffusion rate, so e.g. diversity in soil or mud would be lower than diversity in water.

I haven't tried e-foil, but did I thoroughly enjoy learning to balance on a racing stand up paddle board last summer (only 23" wide). It took me many hilariously humbling weeks of constantly falling off before I could stay up for

Seems like the root cause was that the pilot was a human. A UAV would have been less expensive and less of a media fiasco to lose.

I can vouch for H: The incessant upselling. I'd like to pay for the Economist, but last time I unsubscribed, they forced me to wait on phone hold for a half hour, then go through another half hour of verbal upselling spiel, like "

It seems like a more SIMD-friendly version would separately store a byte mask and the packed byte data. Then you can simultaneously expand 16 int32s using e.g. AVX512's _mm512_maskz_expand_epi8(mask,_mm512_loadu_epi8(data)).
