I don't get why we see so much negative about Apple here on HN. Yes, they made some wrong decisions. But the OS (macOS) is still the same, and most pro use an iMac nowadays. On the otherside it looks grim if you eant to continue the PC

IBM uses a special version of Prolog with a different syntax and database access functionality. They hired a department of a university. MS Windows (network code) contains a Prolog with C-style-syntax.

You can thank MS for fxxkxng with CM. Now they sponsors Ubuntu, and see how they shift direction. Worst case scenario is EEE of Ubuntu/Canonical.

Gnome 2 and KDE 3 were pretty good. Then both shells lost their way. Why do they try to be a bad clone of macOS rather than keep being a Win98 on steriods (KDE 3) or a more simple shell for normal users (Gnome 2).

Android is huge. Android works great without GooglePlay, and just raw Android. You just need another AppStore or just install apps manually. Ask one of your Chinese friends, they have a driving eco system over there.

Let's keep Canonical (the company behind Ubuntu) an individual company. One of the worst case scenarios is that a big company buys Canonical and f*cks with Ubuntu.

Flattr was midly popular, then Patreon ate their cake. Not really a fan of both, as pretty much any hobby project that tried to monetize with Patreon lost its soul. If something is free and suddenly they want money for it, even if there are

Wrong. After Age of Empires 3 (2006) there was no new Age of Empire worth to mention. (Age of Empire online was a Free2Play/whatever game based on the years older Age of Mythology engine. Microsoft closed the Ensemble Studios. Lately M

0AD was great two years ago, still in alpha though. I try it once a year but the progress is very slow, and things are more broken (AI) than two years ago (tried it in Dec 16). Don't get me wrong you can play many map styles, and get h

I had great hopes in Act of Aggression which tried to be a C&C Generals clone. Sadly even after the second redux release it not a good game. And sadly beside all gameplay deficites the graphic engine looks as often worse than the 2004 o

I was speaking about RTS and in the sense of Age of Empires 1 and Empire Earth. The main dev of both this titles Rick Goodwell mentioned A* was used in Empire Earth the first time, older AoE1 used an older less CPU intensive algo. @omginter

What do you use for simple HTML tables that need some sorting and paging functionality? There are various old JQuery libs around. Can someone suggest something simple for React and/or vanilla Javascript? (would be interested in both)

Looking at the CSS Grid examples, I am not sure why? Tables and Divs with reflow can do the same, but with more predictable outcome and less boilerplate. How about optimising the existing render-paths even more in Blink/Webkit/Gec

RFID chips get obsolete. Eg original Mifire chip is considered insecure and should be replaced. Do you know which chip you have in? I saw the related Mythbusters episode and they mention it not easy to remove the chip after some years.

A* was pretty new back then. Previous iteration of games just 2-3 years older used older algos, or invented new path finding algos due CPU constraints.
