The parent comment was about the man himself. In the case of the iPad he may have the guided the process but the real work wasn't by done by him. It was done by the very skilled people he hired.

It's worked pretty well for the last three years. Arch Linux will never reach the same scale that Ubuntu or Debian will simply because of its barrier to entry, so I imagine it should work fine for the immediate future.

Interesting stuff, but given the sheer brainmass that SciPy has attracted its going to be hard to draw users away from that crowd. I think the only appeal of this project, at least for the time being, is labs that are already entrenched in

That's a function of the user's choice to use a installation channel that requires a approval process, not the GPL itself. Anyone can download GPLd source code and compile it ( in theory ) on a Mac if they choose not to go through Apple's c

Chromium is used quite frequently on the Linux side of things. Distros like Arch Linux and Debian distribute only Chromium in their main repos.

I'm not claiming they're going to be satisfied by this or that the technology even addresses any security problems. My point was that gaming in not a necessary feature or a selling point of Qubes and that the demographic who would a) know w

Qubes is not a desktop OS for the masses, it's a niche operating system for professionals who need a high security environment. I would doubt it would be discarded based on lack of game compatibility since anyone who has that level of secur

No mention of any compiled languages? Scripting languages are good for beginners, but to be a mature programmer you should have at least touched a compiler at some point. Also link to Mozilla Docs instead of W3Schools.

Nice work. Do you use operational transformation to manage changes?

They tested Django development sever which is not meant to be used in production, it's going to be incredibly slow at pretty much everything. A better concurrency benchmark would be running Django with asynchronous gevent workers.

Pidgin provides quite a few hooks for shell scripts, you could pretty easily make a shell script to use GPG to encrypt the log files, push them to Dropbox and sync whenever your im session starts/ends.

You need to construct integers with a tuple type, in lambda calculus its: pair = λ x. λ y. λ z. x. y. z Or if you are willing to let pred(0) = 0 then you can use: pred = λ x. λy. λ z. x . (λ i. λ j. j. i. y (λ k. z) (λ k. k)

You really can build everything out of anonymous functions, including all of arithmetic: zero = function(x,y){ return y; } succ = function (f) { return function (x) {return f(n(f(x)));};} one = succ(zero); two = succ(one);

Depends on the window manager. Gnome for example is horrible for navigating by keyboard and you'll constantly fall back on the mouse. XMonad on the other hand is pretty much entirely driven by keyboard.

The appearance of MathML sadly depends on native fonts installed. If your user has STIX or Computer Modern fonts installed then MathML looks very readable compared to say Mathematica's typesetting.
