Yeah, and a doctor can get a job anywhere else in a heartbeat. Doctors effectively do all their “whiteboard interviews” up front and don’t have to deal with it later in their career.

What an empty threat. A hospital is not going to fire staff at the moment of greatest demand, and a doctor with an intact credential can get hired anywhere they want in a split second. Maybe the hospitals can bully the nurses assistants and

I carefully evaluated all of the major players here (at least 2 hours in each one) and Zoom definitely has the 2nd best video/audio quality/latency after FaceTime (and you can't use FaceTime for meetings where even one person

The fact is that with these meeting/group products, the one that makes it easiest to join is the one that succeeds, because there's always one bozo who can't figure out how to type a password, so there's an incentive tow

This is what happens when an economy pays essential workers like throwaway workers and then the throwaway workers realize it.

There's no question that the technical results of a top digital camera blow film out of the f'in water. But that's what makes me nostalgic for the film days, in some ways. Getting a really fantastic film picture used to be a

Touchscreens are massively massively cheaper. Especially for products with warranties like cars. Thing fucks up, just swap out the entire brain+display unit.

I find it sad that these monkeys are getting so many flash photos taken of them. I hate flash and I know that it’s coming and why it exists. For a monkey I can imagine it’s even more aggravating.

Yep. We have these in our team too. People who came in the regular way, were absolutely top performers, and then decided to relocate. The decision to the company was let them be remote or let them go, and some were allowed to be remote and

N95 masks are just too damn uncomfortable when worn properly to become the default standard at all times. Surgical masks should be the all-the-time standard with N95 for the vulnerable or anxious. It would be great if being seen in public c

But it's bullshit, because non-N95 masks are effective at protecting the wearer, about half as effective as N95 masks, and if "selfish" people wear masks to protect themselves they will also protect others from themselves.

Amazon doesn’t really want to kill startups using AWS even when they fuck up. If you had made some phone calls / worked LinkedIn / Tweeted / written a blog post you could have gotten that refunded in a week.
