I have no experience with the Army and even I knew that "Army of One" is a dumb as shit slogan. The entire military functions only because of chain of command and submitting to the organization rather than the individual. Otherwis

You are probably really gifted. I don't think this is a typical experience, that a fourth grader in any country who doesn't do much homework knows most of US high school math.

No, but empirically it's what the justices have been using for over 50 years. Decisions like Wickard v. Filburn and Obergefell don't just come from "living constitutionalism" -- they are just completely made up out of wh

Huge countries like India, the US, and Russia have come under the thrall of men whose position in the feature space is near words like “deranged” and “terrifying”... there’s no reason to believe that the same thing could not happen to a wor

Companies with network effects benefit from having literally everyone on the platform, so you don’t need to go to a competitor to communicate with any particular person. That’s why Facebook has a Tor endpoint, so that people in repressive e

I think it's a matter of opinion that the investigative journalist (which is what a security researcher is akin to) can use their best judgment in making. I think the video, right there, of the people walking into their apartment, make

That’s a form of No True Scotsman. You have an idea of what “security research” is supposed to mean based on the kinds that have been profitable to you and the acquaintances you keep etc. As someone without skin in this game, I appreciate t

The rich are hiring serfs to do their shopping and not needing online delivery. Coders like me are writing our own bots to get deliveries. The tall are reaching items on high shelves that others can't. Life isn't fair and you shou

The flip side is that in the UK where you book a slot and then fill up your cart, there are a lot of people cancelling their carts at the last minute and wasting delivery bandwidth. Of course that has its own fixes but basically this system

What I’ve found with Whole Foods delivery is that if you wait for a notification you’ve lost the slot. I use a bot that plays a loud sound when a slot is available and foregrounds the Firefox window. I then have to click the checkout flow i

And what has been lost even above the value of high quality lenses is the value of high quality lighting. Most people are completely clueless about light and especially flash. But lighting is a million times more important than lens.
