The thing about the moral side is that we already have a bunch of jurisprudence around the 1st amendment. Yes, companies aren't bound by it legally, but it'd be a great moral guide to follow if that's what they're after.

The thing is, you're not exactly ending segregation here. What I see is an ever-shifting goalpost of harmless aphorisms that are newly considered 'offensive' by a bunch of upper-class people. What does that do for George Flo

If this were a signpost along the lines of "employees must wash hands", then there would be no problem. Of course employees should wash their hands. The problem is the weaponization against random people for obscure reasons. The

Who's in charge of "unpleasant things"? Are these things that a vast majority of the anglosphere, including POC, women, etc, wouldn't take offense to? Maybe people are objecting to a tiny % of critical theorists trying

The underlying witch-hunt mentality has obviously existed since before the term witch-hunt. The new part is that social media arguably accelerates it. One wacko trying to burn the witches in a village full of level heads couldn't acco

I think the principle behind Carmack's letter is that factoring into multiple functions that all touch the same state is an illusion of reducing the burden on your memory. They still interact with each other via that state. Pure fun

The whole function is operating on a giant shared buffer representing a texture, though. So you can't break it into pure functions without introducing unacceptable copies of the buffer, right?

It's election season, and Russian hijinks are in vogue. Remember, bog-standard corruption in Ukraine is a crazy conspiracy theory which should be banned from social media. But mystical microwave illnesses? Very credible. You have perm

Yes, we and they are up to lots of dirty stuff way worse than this. This is resonant because it's educated-class people. Not latin-american nuns being killed by death squads, harder to relate to that.
