That makes me doubt it’s his lawyer. Lawyers shouldn’t publicly discuss their clients in a manner that paints them in a negative light. Fire the client first.

Yes, I already have. Unfortunately, all the best tools for photography (my hobby) are Windows and Mac only. So I migrated to Mac. Linux is not an option because my software simply won’t run.

Assuming this is a serious comment, your legacy status would only help your children at that single institution anyway. They might not even want to go to the same school(s) you attended. I don’t see any real reason for concern.

I wonder if more aggressive anti-burn-in measures could help. Unfortunately, on a laptop you don’t want to run the screen on full blast for a long time since it’ll run out your battery. I have a QD-OLED desktop display that has some very mi

That is interesting. Between Anandtech and Tom’s Hardware, I am sad to see that Tom’s has ultimately survived longer. Anandtech was one of, if not the, best.

I remember waaaaay back in the day when Tom’s Hardware was mocked as Tom’s Hotware because they did some testing of what would happen to AMD and Intel CPUs if the heat sink spontaneously fell off while they were running. I think at the time

Lots of encryption software that’s been used in the past was found to be deficient. I can’t recall any entity that used it while being unaware of its deficiency being held responsible.

It probably also automates the chart entry and billing to insurance/patient, at least to an extent. I wouldn’t rest sole responsibility for this system on legal compliance or risk mitigation. Under normal circumstances, there’s also an

I believe it’s worse than that. I don’t think they can use donated funds for Firefox development since donations are tax-deductible and Firefox is a for-profit company.

Given how our data circulates around the web’s data brokers, it doesn’t take a stretch of the imagination to see that the risk of aggregators colluding the de-anonymize people is actually quite high.

Your understanding is accurate. Donations to Mozilla cannot legally be used for Firefox development because your donations are tax-deductible due to Mozilla being a charity and Firefox development is done by a for-profit corporation.

This is definitely not “worth it” given that NX is a dead platform, but I can totally see it being a passion project for someone who wants to improve the system. The NX cameras were pretty darn good. The NX1, which was the final flagship of

Exactly, and I think that sort of request for contribution is much more likely to make people feel inclined to contribute than some abstract goal of getting $10k/mo in donations or whatever.

I think presenting costs as a rough “per user/player” calculation might be more effective than presenting just the total cost. That way people are reminded of their own personal resource usage, which seems like a more manageable/t

Competitive pricing doesn't work when you're in a monopoly/monopsony scenario, which is the case with Apple's App Store.

Most password managers tie credentials to domains. In fact, this is a good indicator of possible phishing attempts when your password manager doesn’t offer to auto-fill your expected credentials.

Your vault is stored locally on each device, so if they decide to shut down you just export locally, import somewhere else and move on. It’s not as big of a deal as you seem to be implying.

I’ve already got them (and a battery), but it ain’t cheap! They’re also pressuring everyone to go electric/heat pump for everything, but then I’d have to start paying the extortionate electric rates here once again.

Yeah, though hopefully there is some sort of warning (or setting that prevents sideloading when enabled) that makes her think twice. Or, you could perhaps make her a “kids” profile unable to install anything without permission.
