ah, thanks for the explanation... I guess we probably need a "new_cool_term" namespace for every new/re-purposed term. Simply use "reactive" to refer to "async" already caused a name collision for me here.

Can't argue with the synchronous Java lib part, but for the callback hell, I believe RxJava is the answer.

Vert.x indeed looks pretty cool. But I found it a little bit weird that they used the term "reactive" in the title, but I'm not sure what the "reactive" is referring to: maybe Reactive Extensions, or at least RxJava

Technologically it's not a walled garden, but "business wise" - for lack of a better word- it is definitely a way to improve content consumption experience on Facebook, not for the general Internet at large.

Interesting to see how different companies address the "mobile web sucks" problem. Google is coming from the top, pushing for "the right way to do mobile web" for the entire Internet, while Facebook is building its own w

How are they going to solve the problem of querying into the data that's stored as json? E.g. trying to find all pins whose "link" is from, say, reddit. Just pull out all data and filter them through in client side? That'

I vaguely remember sama had a comment some time ago, kind of related to what you are saying here (paraphrasing here): "being contrarian is easy, being contrarian and right is hard." Working on a seemingly bad idea is being contrar

Great! I guess it wouldn't be a problem for common operations like data creation and fetching, since underneath it's all implemented through REST APIs. But what about push notification? Parse's JS library doesn't support

Great news! One question: since FB just announced React+Parse, I wonder how's support for Parse in React Native? Or put it a better way, if I want to write an multi-platform app based on Parse, should I consider using React Native? or

What "trend" are you referring to? "Cheating among Chinese students is pandemic." is the trend? So it used to be not "pandemic" but has become more and more so recently? That would actually be very interesting

Thanks for the reference, at least you cared to search and show it! 10% of 25,000 for that particular exam does sound a lot, and that's probably why it made national news in the first place. Does it mean 10% of all Chinese students (in

Another example is Mongoose. It's small, easy to config and embeddable(I've used Mongoose on android with NDK with no problem). Unlike H2O, Mongoose is using an old school one-thread-per-request approach, so I would expect the thr

Glad that you brought up the critical rendering path, because SPDY uses single connection for all requests, once a packet loss/re-transmission happens, the entire connection's congestion window will be cut, which will affect all
