Right, but even if there are corrupt government employees and you are discriminated by the government (employees), you have always the option to take legal actions. In some countries you can't take legal actions that easy, especially agains

One should definitely be careful when registering domains that belong to countries which not really democracies. Remember that they can switch off your domain at any moment. And by no means build your business on it. vb.ly is a good example

Wave didn't wash outside a few early adopters like Novel, SAP, and, er, the US Navy, and it looks like Google's still having trouble conveying exactly what Wave is and what it does. Just wondering what the plans of these early adopters ar

I'm in the process of finishing two side-projects and just started thinking about deployment. I wasn't sure what to use for deployment, as I just wanted to run two web-apps on a VPS. This is definitely what I'm going to use. Of course it is

I think they've learned their lessons since the first Galaxy. It seems that there's much dependency on carriers and manufacturers in the Android world. What if security related bugs are discovered? Are there minor updates to fix these? And

Devices like these can be very harmful to Android's image in the public, especially if their only feature/selling point is "powered by Android". My brother bought a Samsung Galaxy cellphone ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy ). T

Is Twitter actually making any money? I find these billion dollar valuations pretty crazy if the company in question is not actually making any money. Sure, Microsoft and Google have their strategies and would spare no pains (money) to scor

I suppose it can only be better or be at least the same as with 4.1. I'm wondering though, if this will be the last version iOS that supports the iPhone 3G.

Here's how you can check if the update is available: http://www.tuaw.com/2010/06/21/ios-4-0-firmware-release-expe... It's for iOS 4.0 but can be changed to check for 4.2. However, my experience is that downloads are pretty slow in the fir

I like the bookmarklet idea, but find the interface confusing. It also seems to have problems with some Google Chrome extensions like AdBlock, i.e. it lists all "unused" selectors that are loaded to block ads.

Although I've seen people "Vim", "VIM" and "vim" I never really thought about what the correct spelling is. Most times I went with "VIM" since I always thought of it as acronym for "Vi IMproved". But I think you're right with "Vim", since e

Lately I've noticed that more and more TextMate users are switching (back) to VIM. For years TextMate has been really popular, but now it looks as it's losing more and more users. Would be interesting to know why. What made you switch from

I would agree if startups were the only topic covered on HN. But they aren't. HN has always a lot of interesting stuff that has nothing to do with startups. E.g. general CS, psychology, physics ans so on...
