Real quick thing about the water in California: it's important because it is used to make food, which is exported from the state's central plains to the rest of the country. Your mental model should not include the direct water us

As somebody who has congenitally shitty handwriting and usually ignores advice to pick up a pencil: it's still helpful when learning a new language. In fact, my natural crappiness becomes helpful because I have to be incredibly mindfu

I'm sure you don't have time for this; none of us strugglers do. Gotta do it anyway though-- can't save the republic without saving a few voters. Please recognize that the culture we've inherited comes with a lot of li

   > Innovation happens in fields where our ideas are limited by our means to pursue them. Software is no longer such a field, our brightest minds should be going elsewhere. As a relative dummy, I guess I'll remain in software.

This is great news for opsec. not because our stuff got hacked, but because we found out about it. Surely there are other APTs with hooks in our software/hardware; this one was just really big, and sloppy enough to get caught (after 6

Here's my design for a lie down workstation I've used for weeks at a time. 1. open an ordinary laptop screen to 180 degrees. 2. Place the laptop face down on a desk with the laptop's screen hanging over the side of the desk.

Anyone trawling through this thread who sold their gear and feels nostalgic: there are a ton of SDR tuners open to the web, some hooked up to some big antennas. You can't transmit but you can tune around to your heart's content.

This is a pretty high effort article, let's take a deep breath. I enjoyed it because it uses Assassin's Creed as a lense to teach us a bit about history. No culture war related baggage is required for admission into this article

Might be a UX mistake to show the states as blue.. that's what I thought first-- but look at the tallies below: Party Count Percent Democrats 84,833 55.1 Republicans 24,210 15.7 So the earliest mail in voters are heavily skewed D

I want to believe you're coming to this in good faith, but in your last paragraph you mention "institutional racism", which is the same thing as systemic racism-- institution == system. This is not confusing because that is

Whether the unknowns will get us is.. unknown. We are going to learn about whole-planet ecology in the next century whether we intervene or not. Pretending that we know less than we really do is kind of a trademark regressive-right tactic

I dunno, maybe let's get started. I would guess it is called white noise by analogy to analog TV static, which even though it has black pixels in it at any time, appears white to the eye. But interesting question.
