It's actually easy to make one advanced chip in a laboratory, but making it at scale is what's difficult. That single chip may cost 10s of k of USD. That's why Taiwan is the world leader: scale.

No idea on the specifics, but the theory goes like this : clients have been burned many times over cheap solutions. Cheaper is usually more expensive on the long run. For this to break the circle you need reputation of reliability.

Not sure what Yobbo meant but my reading was that people, regarding jobs, have expectations that won't really work out. For example studying to become a philosopher or training for a professional football team. And then they better lea

Considerable does not translate into 100% efficiency. This is what the original article means. In your specific case you had to over provision your solar installation compared to , for example, Egypt.

> This means that the solar power cannot provide enough power to charge the battery, although I am using a 60W solar panel for ~5W Raspberry Pi. Just because there's "light" doesn't mean the panel will produce power.

Python integers are represented like any other data type: a pointer to a PyObject. In the specific case of small integers, they are recycled from a pool of known instances, so we save the malloc() call for those. But the penalty still exist

No idea, but packing an int in a single 32/64 bit value without indirections is how V8 JS does it as well, hence the speed. I'm going to guess that pypy does it too.

Like the Simpsons episode where Bill Gates buys Homer's company. Bill says: I didn't get rich writing checks.

This is why Python is so slow compared with Lua, which also does this with ints.

I believe that flat earthers are the balancing force of that lack of science dissident. Science has become a 9-to-5 job for most and they now have the wrong incentives for that pure "pursuit of Truth".

I've just checked and there's some mobos for $60 with ECC. Is that for real? Supermicro costs like $1000, half that for refurbished.

I need a silent ECC server. Doesn't need to be super powerful but I'd rather have at most one fan. Any advice?

I'd say similar like sport sailing, but yeah there's some bikes that cost more than a sailboat.

GPS modules use SPI which you can get a standard USB serial adapter for $2 on eBay. As the title suggests, it's overkill. Basically it's using the Rpi as SPI adapter. Edit: USB to TTL costs like $3.5, it's like a standard RS2

Remember from a year ago when a Google user account was terminated because of false flag of child pr0n? This makes sense. 230 doesn't cover sex trafficking and the company is totally liable, period.

Replace A[x] with f(x) and done. A modified binary search called ternary search is well known used to find when derivative = 0, numerically. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ternary_search

The UK already has a king. I think this is the only real reason: people there are still subjects to their King and Government.
