Naming doesn't have anything to do with the number of functions. They section things off in the file, so if you prefer things split into multiple files I can understand, but it's a personal perference in something this size

De gustibus, but after taking a look personally I think it's pretty good. It's typed to the extent allowed by js, sections are clearly delineated, and if you collapse all the functions you can get a quick overview of every section

Why is the number of top level functions a problem? As long as they are named and organized appropriately I don't see the issue

Why are zoom lenses 'in-camera "cropping" with max pixel resolution'? They should zoom physically the same way a prime would, just with a less optimal optic structure, no? I mean the perspective projection you get from a

I think this is a thorny issue. On the one hand standardization stiffles development and can even make the language worse going forward. On the other I really think that before governments start pushing for Rust adoption it should be standa

If a big chunk of a project is written in a language, you end up having to learn that language, unless you deal only with a very isolated piece. I don't see how this case would be different.

From my experience creating complex web UIs, the performance angle of using a vdom is pure fantasy if your application is complex enough. In fact I now strongly believe it's counter productive, because most people come to it thinking

They are going to say the usual things, child pornography, risk of terrorist use etc... and conclude that we need our overlords to protect us. Same reasons that have been used in the past to take away freedoms. Not saying they aren't

You should take this proof as saying: if Lean 4 is consistent then New Foundations is consistent. There is no contradiction of Godel's incompleteness theorem.

I don't think the analogy holds: even if you forget all the preceding non linear steps, you are still left with just a linear dynamical system. It's neither complex nor unitary, which are two fundamental characteristics of quantu

I skip breakfast (always did, not something that started with the diet), for lunch 120 g of pasta usually with tomato sauce, a banana and an apple. In the afternoon sometime I have a snack of some sort (between 150 to 300 kcal). For dinner

Great post, I had a different experience with the diet though. I lost 17kg in circa 4 months (an average of 1% body mass per week) while eating mostly carbs (240 g of pasta a day, 3 or 4 fruits) and vegetables. A couple of times a week I wo

Is that really the case? I'm not an expert in AG, but I would imagine that any major result published in Weil's framework can either be trivially converted to schemes or it has been ported over by now

Love this, I agree that for someone new to QM the historical approach is probably not the best idea (though I can imagine many physicists would be upset by the qbistic vibes of the article). But, if you have the prerequisites already (class

You don't need a damn network between two pieces of code just to "do one thing and do it well", for God's sake, I'm so sick of this rampant cluelessness in the industry. Do you saturate the resources of one machine

This reminds me of a GDC talk where rust was praised because it forces you to either go mad because of the borrow checker or structure code using an entity component system. I find it funny that the value of the borrow checker in all these

I'm sure the details are different, but the general idea, to me, seems the same as the one descibed by Leo and Sebastian in https://arxiv.org/abs/1908.05647 . Both Koka and Lean 4 use reference counting to know if

YMMV. If you are building a single page app for expert users in a domain, and editing an entity changes the visual context by going to a different page, that doesn't go down well in my experience. We tried it once, with multiple iterat
