I feel like this comment missed the point of my original comment. By "music stand", I meant some device capable of holding the binder up. Consider instead a camera tripod with the top modified to hold a binder.

Is PCIe really the bottleneck for storage devices? I haven't measured experimentally to see, but just off the top of my head, it seems like an x4 PCIe 3.0 slot should be able to keep up with everything but the latest SSD's (and fo

You're totally overcomplicating this -- all they need is literally a music stand that they keep with their binders -- when you take a binder out, bring the stand with you to the platform and mount the binder on the stand on the platfor

FPGA's don't have a runtime or execution. Think of an FPGA like a bunch of logic gates you connect. If you have further questions I can try to answer them.

As an arrogant 20-something year old, I disagree :P. An important distinction to make here is whether you're teaching someone to intuitively reason about something or to logically calculate it precisely. I think as long as someone gras

It's not the skepticism. It's the lack of perspective. You can be perfectly balanced and skeptical, but your readers will not necessarily take away your perspective if you don't provide some amount of contrast/consider d

This chart in the article makes me suspicious: https://assets.bwbx.io/images/users/iqjWHBFdfxIU/i_t8UFPOJVk... The nurses who took 6 hour workdays took roughly the same number of sick days two years later as

I think the reality is more subtle than this. I'm currently working at a large company with a lot of job security. In 5-10 years, I would like to see myself working at a startup. But only for maybe 5 years max, and then I'd like t

I think it's possible to be truthful, direct and blunt while still being nice and thoughtful. There's a false association between someone who is a jerk and someone who is willing to disagree.

You actually don't have to put ! In front of make. Vim has makefile integration. If all you're doing is typing make, you can do :make. For a custom build command, you can set the variable makeprg, and :make will execute that inste

I think you're confusing being terse with being bad at communicating. Original comment isn't talking about giving useless answers, they are talking about removing flowery language from emails and keeping them as short as possible

All these things are exactly what's I'd do 99% of the time with the underlying calls, and I'm glad c++11 does them for me. It's like... Well duh, this is exactly the concept of abstraction.

Why does the drone have to be wheeled out on tracks so far away from the shop for takeoff? It looks like this center may have been used for early testing where they were less confident in the drone's ability to takeoff Also, it's

For what it's worth, I though the gifs were funny and liked them. But there's the whole tradeoff of adding extra clutter. I a few GIFs can definitely split up the article a bit and make it easier to read, but too many can also be

Their hands probably always have to be on the joystick, following it's motion. That way if anything goes wrong, they can take over faster. That doesn't mean the car isn't in auto-drive.

There's a difference between biased reporting and citizens being forbidden from talking about something online. If you made the same post but about some Chinese politician and in China, you could get in trouble for that.

I believe we've had technology similar to this for a long time, is there anything new with this in particular? I believe the biggest problem is the formation of scar tissue around the implanted electrodes. This reduces the strength of
