I wonder if reduced air traffic contributed to the success? I.e. could it be that favorite conditions are not that rare if not due to disturbance from all the flights?

Derivation of Maxwell equations from the corresponding Lagrange form does not require to know differential geometry. But some understanding of that is useful to realize that it is the Maxwell equations that sort-of follows from the constnes

I was skeptical about depression until I saw it in my son. This is a terrible condition with bad side-effects even in a mild form. And the only effective treatment is time.

It is a bad analogy. We do not know even if dark matter exists as it is one of many possible explanations of a particular phenomenon. So the depression is like a galaxy rotation speed anomaly.

Strictly speaking real computers are finite state machines and are trivially decidable from the halting problem point of view. The problem is that it just takes long long time.

That is a very nice summary! By then I recently discovered utility of a special bag to bake potatoes in the microwave . It does work even if takes longer than promised 5 minutes, but the result is very tasty and I have no idea how I would r

It does not matter. Propaganda is a nice way to get money from the state. It is easy to show immediate results and blaming external factors is always possible when asked about long-term effects.

In Norway if one has a copper phone line into house, then the speed is typically bound by 40 Mbit/s. And it is not just rural areas. The apartment I live in is close to the center of Oslo. But as it is an old building with few flats it

Yet non-default browsers on Android are non-existent. So in practice Android has the same web-engine mono-culture as iPhone. Given how successfully Google was able to ensure Blink domination on desktop and even more so on Android it is very

This change does not remove the user agent. In practice it just hides OS and the version but the user may opt-in to send those to a particular site.

The current situation implies that not holding cash for 6 months and using loans for day-to-day operations was a premature optimization. Essentially corporations assumed that in the time of prolonged crises they would be bailed out by taxpa

Apple disallows third-party web rendering engines. Google Chrome on iOS uses own networking stack. It is still a significant restriction, but it is rather understandable. Without it it could be just Blink everywhere at this point.

Apple requires that all code-related assets for an app should be included into the app. So the app cannot just be a launcher that show a browser with a website.

I meant all our fundamental physical models are fully-deterministic globally. The only exceptions are singularities of General Relativity, but even for those the believe is that a proper accounting of quantum effects should resolve this. We

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARYP83yNAWk mentioned that the notion that C++ could handle out-of-memory was a purely theoretical wishful thinking. In practice it could not.

Physics cannot address the question of free will at all, as all our experiences tell that at least globally universe is 100% deterministic. So one need to go beyond physics to address that. This is similar with the notion of time. A typical

Writing exceptions-safe code is not free in itself. Surely one can do it, but it requires more mental energy to write and even more efforts to review the code.
