csvkit is a great tool, use it everyday. Haven't used the sql2csv tool though. For exporting, I'd say that psql2csv [1], which is mentioned in the article, is still easier to use. It has the same interface as psql, except for an a

That's technically possible, but we never did this. I feel like that's going to complicate things once you start doing this.

Thanks Craig, in those 4 years I've been using Postgres extensively your blog posts, talks, newsletter [1], guide [2] have been invaluable learning resources. Now I'm trying to contribute back to the community, too :) 1: http:&#x

We use the apartment gem pjungwir mentioned. I guess it works well if you have a small number of customers, each with lots of data. The other way around, lots of customers with little data would not scale, I'd say. As with any techniqu

Sure, you can use pgcli instead of psql. But it doesn't replace psql. In fact, most tasks described in the article cannot be accomplished with pgcli. - it can't list schemas with \dn - it can't list materialized views with \d

At times my mechanical engineering courses at university felt like MATLAB tutorials. You had to use it, no way around it. Good luck once you're out of university and want to start your own thing, you won't be able to afford it. Th

Yes, it does. Even if it didn't, it's still confusing I'd say. Why not just call it ramda? Still quite short. Actually, R is the only single letter executable that I can think of. Chances of clashes are ~1/26 :)

When I saw the example I thought this was using R, the statistical computing tool. But it's this tool itself that has an executable called R. I'd suggest renaming it.

By default it only restores a program that is whitelisted, such as vim, man, etc. You could, I guess, tell it to also restore ssh sessions. Here's a guide on how to do that: https://github.com/tmux-plugins/tmux-res

Nice work. I did a very similar simulation a year ago when I learned about MC in the context of particle filtering in a course about recursive estimation at ETH. http://bl.ocks.org/fphilipe/6094255

Grapher is such a handy tool. Unfortunately, it hasn't received any updates since its introduction. There are a couple bugs, e.g. when right clicking on an equation in the sidebar, the context menu does not appear properly.
